Constructive Walking
2024/walk
This work is born from my personal experiences: discovering the "Toride Slope Enthusiasts" signpost while walking in Toride, interviewing and forming relationships with them, traveling to Uganda, digging up tree roots, and other subjective encounters. I share these narratives while participants walk alongside me, listening to my stories. Then, as an action linked to these episodes, they build "signposts" using branches and found objects. We walk as if tracing the surface of the Toride campus, following paths that few have traveled before.
The storytelling is neither quite theater nor simple conversation. Along the way, we pause to drink tea together, and in the end, as if by chance-or perhaps not—the song Country Roads begins to play. Finally, we return to where we started, and the work comes to a close.
This work is a process of trial and exploration-an attempt to show you my landscape.

この作品は、作家である私が取手を歩いていた時に発見した「取手の坂道愛好会」の道標、そして彼らへの取材や親睦を深めたことと、あるいはウガンダ渡航経験、木の根っこを掘り起こした経験だとか、そうした主観的な世界を語り、鑑賞者は一緒に歩きながらそれを聴く。それからエピソードにリンクする行為として、木の枝や拾ったものを「道標」にして建てる。
誰も通ったことがないような、取手キャンパスの大地を撫でるように歩くのである。演劇とも言い切れないが会話ともいえない語りを受け、みんなでお茶を飲んだり、最後には偶然なのか否かわからない「カントリーロード」が聴こえたりして、もといた場所に帰っておしまい。これは私の風景を、あなたに見せるための試行錯誤とも言える作品である。
